So many rumours about this album, what is the
truth? Existed as a bootleg tape for a while before it was released,
the tape being labelled as everything from Fried 2 to the Saint
Julian Demos. Other rumours: it was recorded in a day, it was
recorded for a bet, it was recorded in 1984, 86 and 1990. The
truth? According to Cope, Skellington was recorded in a day and
a half in April 1989 in South London. There you have it, straight
from the horse's mouth. Anyway, who really cares, Skellington
is Cope at his rawest; hilarious, spontaneous, sometimes crap,
sometimes undeniably superb, and always creative. Beg, borrow,
steal, lie or cheat, whatever you do, get hold of a copy, and
as it says on the spine: "Play this record as loud as Hell!".
This album is now part of The Skellington Chronicles.
