Some news on Kevlar's progress with Leukemia. The following
is taken directly from the November Drudion at Head Heritage,
written by Julian himself and includes news of the next Brain
Donor release:
"Finally, Kevlar's had a bone marrow transplant which appears
to have taken successfully. As if in some kind of synchronous
celebration, Brain Donor has a new 45 out soon on the Static
Resonance label: "My Pagan Ass" b/w "Like a Motherfucker".
Both are poignant tales of the modern heathen caught in the monotheistic
crossfire of 21st century Britain."

To simplify navigation a bit, I have reformatted the Live Tapes
etc. page so the list is now viewable on-line. This eliminates
the step of downloading a pdf file etc. and will hopefully speed
up the process of getting you to the info you want. Otherwise,
nothing new to report

Thanks to Head Heritage's amazing fast on-line ordering, Trampolene
this week received a copy of the new Rite Now cd and the Discover
Avebury Programme. The programme is a n eight page companion
to the Discoiver Avebury event Julian organized at the British
Museum on July 5th of this year, and despite the mail person
trying to destroy it by cramming the envelope into my mail box
(thanks!) its a good read with short essays by Julian, Dr. Aubrey
Burl, Dr. Mark Gillings and Dr. Josh Pollard.
Rite Now! is an awesome cd. It spins right now on my player,
its funky grooves chruning away in the background. So far, so
good...

As many of you are probably now aware, Kevin "Kevlar" Bales
was recently taken ill. This statement was posted on the Spiritualized
site, Kevlar being both the drummer for Brain Donor and Spiritualized.
We wish him all the very best for a speedy recovery:
"Spiritualized drummer and core band member Kevin Bales
is currently in hospital in Nottingham recovering from leukemia.
After returning from Fuji Rock and a successful tour of Australia
with the band Kevin felt unwell and was admitted for tests. Unfortunately
the band had to cancel their appearance at the Olyafestivalen
in Oslo, Norway last weekend. Chris Davis, drummer from Nottingham
combo Six by Seven was keen to help out his friends in Spiritualized
and has offered to stand in for Kevin for their Festival performances
at Leeds, Glasgow on the Green and Reading which are definitely
going ahead as scheduled. Spiritualized have also delayed recording
of their next studio album hich they were due to commence work
on in September."
In other news...
Head Heritage was proud to announce the next installment in
the Rite series, "Rite Now" Described by HH as:
"Four meditational funk-a-thons coming rite at ya!
In the RITE tradition, Cope has taken the essence of Sly Stone's
THERE'S A RIOT GOIN' ON and James Brown's THE PAYBACK, added
lots of wah-wah guitars and cosmic synthesizers and served
up a heady stew of extended jams that buzz with the vibration
of seven musicians grooving on some lunar plain. Watch time
disappear with RITE NOW. "

The tracks are:
01. Twilight of the Motherfuckers
02. Give the Poet Some
03. Supernatural Agencies
04. Ephaedra
The cd is available now through Head Heritage Merchandiser.

Julian will be performing two shows at Edinburgh's Liquid Room
as part of the T on the Fringe festival. The dates are 24th and
25th August and tickets are £12.50 each.
No news on the release of the Brain Donor single "My Pagan
Ass", but the next ambient cd in the Rite series is set
for release sometime in September. Called Rite Now, it is described
by Julian as "four sticky funk-o-thon mantras waiting to
ooze thang all over your living room".

Hope all those that managed to make it to Julian's recent gigs
in Aberdeen, Ireland and Den Hagg had a good time, as well as
at his recent "Disccover Avebury" event at the British
Museum. We will report any feedback as soon as we receive it.

As you can see we have had another rejigging of the site here
at Trampolene, after getting tierd of staring at all that orange!
The site is basically the same structure with the added bonus
of now having a guestbook/message board. So drop in there and
say hello!

Julian is putting together another British Museum event, this
time called Discover Avebury. It takes place on 5th July (Doors
at 6.00pm for 6.30pm start) and tickets are £10.00 {no
concessions and credit cards are not accepted) . Call 020 7323
8566 or 020 7323 8644 to reserve a ticket, and then send their
cheque later or pay on the Door. Cheques can be sent to:
Discover Avebury tickets
British Museum Friends
British Museum
Great Russell Street
London
WC1B 3DG
Applicants should enclose a stamped SAE and cheques must be
made out to the 'British Museum Friends'. Priority for tickets
is going to the British Museum Friends, so be quick if you want
to go! Julian himself says he will be taking more of a curating
role for this event as he is lining up people like Aubrey Burl
to do the talking. But can Julian remian quiet while others do
all the talking? That remains to be seen...
Julian is scheduled to appear at the New Forms Festival in Den
Haag on June 7th. This will be a spoken word and acoustic performance.
According to Head Heritage as well, Julian's researching schedule
is extremely busy for the rest of the year so any further UK
dates are unlikely.
Still no sign of the new Brain Donor single yet...

Julian will be performing a few solo dates in April while touring
around collecting information for the gazetteer section of his
next book "Let Me Speak to the Driver", the sequel
to The Modern Antiqurian. The gig dates are:
April 05 - Aberdeen Lemon Tree
April 11 - Dublin, Vicar St
April 12 - Cork, Half Moon Theatre
April 21 - Belfast, Empire
And for everyone who missed its first release, Queen Elizabeth
II - Elizabeth Vagina, is set to be rereleased soon in all new
super-symbolic packaging. Brain Donor has also recorded a couple
of sessions for their second album, but the new single won't
be released until April because of administration problems at
Impresario Records.

Here we go again...another compilation cd released full of the
same predictability. This one is called Julian Cope - The Collection,
and although it does give a good splash of songs from the World
Shut Your Mouth album up to Jehovahkill, there are no surprises
at all. The cover artwork does not even make up for the lack
of imagination on the tracklist unfortuantely. The only picture
of Julian is on the inside of the jewel case inserts, and then
it is a throw away, faded into the background behind the text.
Why the record companies waste their money on these projects
I don't know, but then I could ask the same question of myself!
Follow the link below for more details:
Also, many thanks to Dale Jowett who sent me some scans to add
to this site. These include tickets of some of the 30 plus times
he has Cope live and also a scan of the Krautrock colouring competition
from the Cornucopea festival in 2000. These have been added to
the concert tickets and miscellaneous sections of our own cornucopia
section:

A happy new year to everyone. A few tidbits of Cope news gleaned
from Head Heritage site: Julian's voice is returning to normal
after extensive therapy. He will shortly be announcing the dates
for shows in Cork, Dublin, Copenhagen and Aberdeen and there
is also the chance that Queen Elizabeth might appear with Coil
in Zurich.
Also plans are afoot to rerelease Queen Elizabeth 2: Elizabeth
Vagina. The initial release was limited and sold out quickly
leaving many followers clamouring to find a copy, so this news
should be welcome relief.
A new Brain Donor single called "Get Back On It" is
scheduled for release in March. Other upcoming highlights this
year are plans for another British Museum event and the hopeful
release of another project cd "Rite Now". Dates and
details of both are unknown at this time.
